Rana Kant was a Human male who served as a Captain in the Galactic Empire's naval forces. He held a position of command on the Star Destroyer Devastator under the command of Lord Darth Vader during the Galactic Civil War. Kant was responsible for various bridge duties and logistical matters.
He is best known for his brief appearance in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. During the boarding of the Tantive IV, Kant relayed information to Vader regarding the lack of escape pods being launched, indicating the Rebel presence was still on board. This information contributed to the eventual capture of Princess Leia Organa and the retrieval of the stolen Death Star plans.
